Aguinaldo "Digar" Gomes Facada

Of Dorchester, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on December 14, 2024.

Beloved husband of the late Leopoldina “Ina” Delgado Facada.

Father of James and his wife Linda Facada of Dorchester, Carlota Fagundo of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, and Rosa and her husband Gene Carter of Dorchester.

Son of the late Manuel Gomes and Carlota Lima Facada.

Brother-in-law of Icilda “Ales” Facada of Chelsea.  Digar was the last surviving of 10 siblings.

Grandfather of David and his wife Shirley Facada, Alicia Facada, Daniel and his wife Rebecca Facada, Johanna Facada, Gabriella Facada, Joseph Facada, Eliza Facada, Nathaniel and his wife Urmila Fagundo, Melissa and her husband Michael Anastasio, Matthew and his wife Vanessa Fagundo, and Rebecca and her husband Ryan McWade.

Great-grandfather of Riley Facada.

He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Digar’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the Murphy Funeral Home, 1020 Dorchester Avenue, DORCHESTER, on Thursday, December 19, 2024 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

His funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday morning, December 20, 2024 at 10:00 A.M.

Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.

Digar was born in Brava, Cape Verde on May 15, 1929. He immigrated to the United States in 1965, settled in Roxbury, and then 2 years later was able to bring his family to join him. Later, in 1974, Digar and his family moved to Dorchester where he and his wife Ina purchased a home. He lived in this home until he passed. He will be fondly remembered for his hard work ethic and gardening skills.
