Mr. Amilcar Barros, of North Darmouth, formerly of New Bedford and Dorchester, died Friday, June 21, 2019 in Saint Luke's Hospital in New Bedford. He was 71.
Amilcar was born October 16, 1947 in Fogo, Cape Verde a son of the late Henrique Barros and Alice Barbosa. He was raised by Miguel Rosario whom he always considered his father. He immigrated to the United States In the early 1970's settling in Dorchester. He lived many years in New Bedford before moving to North Dartmouth two years ago.
He worked at the former "Old Mr. Boston' located at 1010 Massachusetts Avenue in Boston. An avid sports fan he especially had a passion and interest in soccer and the teams from Portugal.
In addition to his longtime companion whom he consider his wife, Deolinda Lobo he leaves his sons, George Barros in New Zealand, Bruno Barros in Cape Verde; Deolinda's sons, Anthony Lobo and Stephen Lobo, both of North Dartmouth; his siblings, Carmen Barbosa of Dorchester, Miguel Rosario Jr. of Brockton, Maria Rosario of Brighton, John D'Rosario of Dedham, Carlos Barros, Fatima Barros, Ceso Barros and Rosaria Barros all of Dorchester; also survived by many nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Amilcar's life by gathering for visiting hours in in the Murphy Funeral Home, 1020 Dorchester Avenue, DORCHESTER, Tuesday, June 25th from 5-8 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 400 Dudley Street, Roxbury, on Wednesday morning, June 26th at 10 A.M. PLEASE MEET DIRECTLY AT THE CHURCH. Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery, Mattapan.
