SEALS, Bruce Alden Sr. Of Dorchester, formerly of New Orleans. LA, died December 15, 2020.
Bruce was the epitome of a self-made man. He was a simple man who lived an extraordinary life and he strongly believed in the principle of reaching back to help others once he achieved success. In his 30 years of mentoring, he touched the lives of thousands of young people. That is his true legacy.
He was the beloved husband of the late Shirley A. (Gallien) Seals.
Loving father of Denitra R. Seals of Malden and Bruce A. Seals Jr. of Woburn.
Brother of Rhonda Hollingsworth of Washington, Barry Seals of Minnesota, Lori Stamps of Louisiana, and the late Yolanda McKaskill.
He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, dear friends, and the thousands of young people he mentored.
Bruce was a former professional basketball player, playing for the Seattle Supersonics in the NBA and the Utah Stars in the ABA. He was also an assistant basketball coach at Emerson College and Emmanuel College.
Most recently, he was the Athletic Director and Operations Specialist for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dorchester for the past 30 years.
