Catherine H. "Kay" (Morgan) Carpenter

Of Billerica, formerly of Dorchester, died peacefully on August 3rd, 2023 at the young age of 90.

Beloved daughter of the late Lawrence and Herminie (Bruneau) Morgan.

Loving Mother of Kelly Higgins, and her husband John, James Carpenter and his wife Denise, Kathleen Prieskorn, survived by her husband Jeff, and Regina Jensen and her husband, Scott.

Loving “Gram” to Leslie, Ryan, and Benjamin all of whom she loved with all her heart.  

Beloved sister to Dorothy Reed, late husband Paul Reed, Margaret Mitchell, late husband Carl Mitchell, and late sister Jean Blacker and late husband Robert Blacker.

Kay is survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.

Kay proudly served in the United States Women Marine Corp from April 1953 unit she was honorably discharged in 1958 with the Rank of Sergeant. She served with the 2nd Infantry Battalion. Kay achieved her dream of becoming a Nurse after graduating from Northeastern University in 1973. She worked in many different departments within her 40+ years at Mass General Hospital until she officially retired on July 1st, 2006. In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling the world, spending time with family and friends, and spent many years volunteering with Toys for Tots in South Boston.  

Family and friends will honor and remember Kay’s life by gathering for visiting hours in St. Margaret Church of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, 800 Columbia Road, Dorchester, on Thursday morning, August 10, 2023 at 9:00 A.M. Followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M.

Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester. There will be a Celebration of Life party immediately following Burial.
