Of Dorchester, formerly of Derrygola, Co. Sligo, Ireland, died October 24, 2022.
Beloved wife of the late Richard J. Ward.
Loving mother of Mary and her husband William “Buddy” Christopher of Dorchester, Arthur Ward of Bridgewater, Francis and his wife Debbie Ward of Everett, Kathleen Nolfi of Dedham, and Patrick Ward of Weymouth.
Devoted “Gram” of Katie and her husband Brendan Dwyer, Richard and his wife Carolyn Christopher, Thomas Christopher, William Christopher, James and his wife Michele Christopher, Michael and his wife Kristin Christopher, Juan and his wife Emily Sanchez, Heather Ward, Adam and his wife Vanessa Ward, Andrea Ward, Anthony Ward and his fiancé Caroline Kennedy, Anthony and his wife Julia Nolfi, Nicholas Nolfi, Gina Nolfi, and Sam Ward.
Great-grandmother of Molly, Christopher, Noel, Vera, Thomas, Andrew, Rachel, William, Julia, Nora, Luke, Michael, Penny, Lucy, Marty, Kellum, Mila, Emmett, and Grace Christine.
Great-great-grandmother of Scarlett.
Chris is the last surviving child of 15 siblings of the late Thomas and Mary (Cherry) Higgins. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, especially M. Joseph Sullivan and Mary Anne Pugsley, both of Dorchester.
Chris’ family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Debbie MacFarland, as well as to the staff at B.U. Geriatrics and the nurses at Boston Medical Center for their compassionate care.
Family and friends will honor and remember Chris’ life by gathering for visiting hours in the Murphy Funeral Home, 1020 Dorchester Ave., DORCHESTER, on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Margaret Church of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, 800 Columbia Road, Dorchester, on Wednesday morning, November 2nd, at 10:00 A.M.
Burial will follow in Mt. Benedict Cemetery, West Roxbury.
Chris was a retired lab technician at Boston City Hospital for over 20 years.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Boston Medical Center Geriatric Center, 725 Albany Street, Boston, MA 02118.
