With gratitude to God for a life marked by faith, service, and devotion, we celebrate the life and legacy of Elder Convelle Morton, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, educator, church leader, and faithful servant of Jesus Christ.
Born in St. Kitts, an island in the West Indies, he spent his formative years there before moving to St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, where he began a lifelong commitment to ministry in the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
In 1975, he migrated to the United States and pursued higher education in preparation for a life of ministry and service. He earned degrees in Theology and Education from Atlantic Union College and continued advanced studies at Boston University in Religion and Pastoral Counseling.
Throughout his years in Massachusetts, Elder Morton became known as a dedicated spiritual leader and educator. He taught at Berea Seventh-day Adventist Academy and later became its principal. He then served as principal at Brockton Area Seventh-day Adventist Academy, all while faithfully fulfilling his church leadership responsibilities.
While serving as the first elder of the Berea Seventh-day Adventist Church, he accepted the call to lead a new church plant, the Mattapan Mission of Seventh-day Adventists, helping guide its growth into the Mattapan Seventh-day Adventist Church, which eventually became the Hyde Park Seventh-day Adventist Church. His ministry included preaching, teaching, counseling, conducting Bible studies and baptismal classes, and mentoring generations of church members.
From 2003 onward, Elder Morton continued his faithful service through the Roxbury Seventh-day Adventist Mission, later Roxbury Seventh-day Adventist Church, and ultimately The Waymark Seventh-day Adventist Church. He was known for his thoughtful teaching of Scripture, especially the books of Daniel and Revelation; his prayer ministry; his evangelistic outreach; and his willingness to guide others in understanding church doctrine, history, and faith.
His life was guided by his favorite scripture: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy path”— Proverbs 3:5–6. Elder Morton loved the Lord deeply and found great fulfillment in serving Him. His greatest desire was to help others come to know Christ and prepare for God’s kingdom.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Hetty Morton; his son, Linvelle Morton; his daughter-in-law, Pivel Morton; his grandchildren, Amari, Leila, and Joshua; along with extended family, church family, former students, colleagues, and countless friends whose lives were touched by his ministry and example.
His legacy of faith, leadership, and service will continue to inspire generations to come.
Family, friends, and the church community will honor and remember Elder Convelle Morton’s life on Friday, June 5, 2026, at The Waymark Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1048 Dorchester Ave., Dorchester, MA 02125; Viewing 9am -11am, Service 11am-12:30pm, Repast 12:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Elder Convelle Morton’s memory may be made to the Berea Seventh-day Adventist Academy (Northeastern Adventist Academy, Boston Campus), 800 Morton St., Mattapan, MA 02126, or via the school’s online portal at https://www.bereasdaacademy.org/online-payment.
