Daniel J. "Danny" "Budzo" Ryan

Of his beloved Savin Hill and later Braintree, Danny died peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness on May 3, 2025, in Hollywood, Florida.

He was the beloved husband of Dorothy (Clooney) Ryan for 46 years.

Loving father of Melissa and her husband Barrett Kelly of Milton, Danielle and her husband John Tierney of Savin Hill, Shannon and her husband Brian Hegarty of Milton, and Kasey Ryan of Savin Hill.

Cherished “Papa” of Emma and Jack Kelly, Rocco, Lola, and Sunny Tierney, Finn, Rowan, and Reese Hegarty.

Best Budzo of the late Michael “Budzo” Clooney.

Son of the late Patrick and Honora (Desmond) Ryan.

Brother of Peggy McDonough of Dorchester, Ellen Lennon of Florida, Ted Ryan of Dorchester, Jerry and his wife Barbara Ryan of Connecticut, and the late John Ryan, Kay Gillis, and Joseph Ryan.

Danny is also survived by many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family and friends will honor and remember Danny’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the IBEW Local 103 Hall, 256 Freeport Street, Dorchester, on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Cecilia Church, 18 Belvidere Street, Boston, on Thursday morning, May 15, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. by his longtime dear friend Rev. John J. Unni.

Immediately following the Funeral Mass, Danny’s family would like to invite everyone to join with them for a celebration of life in the lower church café at St. Cecilia Church.

An interment will take place in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Dorchester on Friday morning, May 16th, at 11:00 A.M.

Danny was a proud graduate of B.C. High, class of 1961, and later was a recipient of the Paul J. Hunter Man for Others Award. He was retired court officer for Boston Municipal Court for over 30 years.

Danny will be fondly remembered for his 51 years of sobriety, his passion for politics, and for helping others. He was especially proud of his four beautiful daughters and his grandchildren.
