Of Roxbury, Eleanor died peacefully on August 24, 2026 at the age of 91 years.

Beloved wife of the late Frank O. Ratta.

Loving mother of Douglas and his wife Kathy Ratta of Kingston, Frederick and his wife Ann Ratta of South Weymouth, Karen and her husband Phil Yuska of Winchester, and the late Joseph Bavis.

Devoted “Nana” of Samantha Kane, Lauren and her husband Scott O’Neill, Nicole Bavis, Michaela Bavis, Joseph Bavis, Bailey and her husband Jeffrey Davidson, and Devan and her husband Patrick O’Keeffe.

Great-Nana of James, Amelia, Violet, Willow, Lex, Luke, Mason, Matilda, Olivia, Parker, Griffin, and Joseph.

Sister of the late Angie Merritt, Vinnie Figaratto, Jenny Sanfilippo, Danny Figaratto, Joe Figaratto, Frank Figaratto, Albie Figaratto, Louie Figaratto, and Richard Figaratto.

Eleanor is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Eleanor’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the Murphy Funeral Home, 1020 Dorchester Ave., DORCHESTER, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 400 Dudley Street, Roxbury, on Thursday morning, August 27, 2026, at 10:30 A.M.

Burial with her late husband Frank, will be held in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 11:15 A.M.

Eleanor was a longtime parishioner of St. Patrick Church in Roxbury, where she volunteered as a lector, worked with the C.Y.O., and is fondly remembered for cooking meatballs for the Christmas bazaar for many years. She also volunteered at the parish grammar school and was active in many community and neighborhood groups. She was an avid softball player and bowler, playing into her 70s.
