We regret to announce that Fred or “Ricky” as he was known by family, passed away January 5, 2023, peacefully at his residence in Medford at the age of 79.
He was the son of Alfred and Lillian (Bykowski) Goscinak and grew up in the Fenway area of Boston. He was the step-son of Jessie (Federowski) Goscinak of Wakefield.
He is survived by his step-brother Frank Federowski and his wife Helen (Forsberg) Federowski of Bridgton, ME. He was a loving uncle to Erik Federowski of So. Portland, ME, Anya Federowski of Lee, NH, Stacia (Federowski) Lange of Olympic Valley, CA, and great uncle to Emmett Lange of CA.
He was a loyal son, who took great pleasure in traveling the world with his father and mother and later his step-mother. He always had a strong curiosity about science and loved watching Sci-fi movies and reading National Geographic, along with the newspaper. He spent a lot of time exploring Boston by train and bus and loved going to the Boston Public Library.
In his elderly years he lived under the care of the Cooperative for Human Services in one of their group homes in Medford. We want to thank all his caretakers over the years, from the bottom of our hearts for the wonderful, loving care they gave him.
Family and friends will honor and remember Ricky’s life by gathering for a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 655 Dorchester Avenue, South Boston, on Monday morning, January 16, 2023 at 11:00 A.M.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ricky’s memory may be made to Cooperative for Human Services, 420 Bedford Street, Suite 100, Lexington, MA 02420, or online at www.cooperativeforhs.org.
