KELLY, George A. In Dorchester, formerly of Co. Cork, Ireland, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, January 15th, age 84 years.

Beloved husband of the late Mary Catherine "Kitty" (Connolly).

Loving father of Elizabeth Merrill of Hampton Falls, NH, Helena Kelly of Dorchester, George and his wife Karen Kelly of Dorchester, Catherine Goodman of Naples, FL, and Greg and his wife Stacey Kelly of San Diego, CA.

Brother of James Kelly of Kingston, and the late Timothy Kelly and Finbar Kelly.

Devoted grandfather of McKenna Goodman, Levi, Haley, and Abby Merrill, Emily Kelly, and Daragh and Savin Kelly.

George immigrated from Cork City, Ireland in 1961 when he was 28 years old. He married Mary Catherine "Kitty" Connolly in 1961. They were married for 20 years until Kitty passed in 1981. George worked hard and raised his five children in Savin Hill. He retired from Nabisco/Warner Lambert after 36 years.
Following retirement, he went to work for the Department of Conservation and Recreation for 8 years. He was a fixture at the Devine Rink in Dorchester and the Murphy Rink in South Boston during the hockey season, and Pope John Paul Park in Dorchester or Castle Island during the summer months.
After retiring from the DCR, many could find George sitting at the counter at McKenna's Café. He often walked the neighborhood socializing with his many friends and acquaintances, stopping at the local markets to buy his scratch tickets and play his numbers. He was also a proud friend of Bill W. for over 35 years.

Family and friends will honor and remember George's life by gathering for visiting hours in the Murphy Funeral Home, 1020 Dorchester Ave., DORCHESTER, Friday 4-8 P.M.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Margaret Church of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Saturday morning, January 20, at 10 A.M.

Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.

In lieu of flowers, donations in George's memory may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Dorchester, 1135 Dorchester Ave., Dorchester, MA 02125.
