Henrique Alves Monteiro

Mr. Henrique Alves Monteiro, 80, of Dorchester, Massachusetts passed on Friday, February 3, 2023.  

Henrique was born on May 27, 1942 in the Island of Fogo, Cape Verde, the son of the late Jose Alves Monteiro and Margarida Alves. He was raised and educated in Cape Verde where he worked as a Police Officer. He was the spouse of Maria Costa DePina. 

Henrique and his family immigrated to the United States in 1986settling in Boston and continued work in various factories.  
 
He will be lovingly remembered as a dedicated family man, a conservative and calm man who enjoyed watching various wildlife programs on television.  

In addition to his spouse, Maria, he leaves his children, Felizberta Costa Monteiro, Ana Costa Monteiro, Antonio Costa Monteiro, Edite Costa Monteiro, Jose Costa Monteiro, Vanda Costa Landaverde, Luisa Pinto Monteiro, Antonio Gomes Monteiro, Homero Santos Monteiro, 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Maria Agusta Monteiro, Maria L. DePina, Maria Antonia DaSilva, Maria Tomazia DaSilva, Irlanda Rodrigues Monteiro, Gilberto Alves Monteiro. 

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family and friends will honor and remember Henrique's life by gathering for visiting hours in the Murphy Funeral Home, 1020 Dorchester Ave., DORCHESTER, on Wednesday, February 8th from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. 

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Peter’s Church, 311 Bowdoin Street, Dorchester, on Thursday morning, February 9th, at 10:00 A.M. 

Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery, Roslindale.
