ROMAN, Irene Louise Judith, Phd. Lifelong resident of Dorchester, died peacefully on March 16th.
She was 86 years old.
Born in Dorchester on July 5, 1929.
She was the daughter of the late John and Josephine (Bregani) Roman and sister of the late Henry Angelo Edward Roman, M.D.
Irene was a graduate of Girl's Latin High School.
She received her Bachelor of Science and Masters in Education from Boston University, and a Doctorate from Boston College Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.
She had lived, studied, and traveled extensively in Italy.
She had been a consultant and translator of document and correspondence.
She taught Italian language and culture at several institutions including, Radcliffe College Graduate Seminars, Northeastern University, Quincy College, and the Newton School System.
Most recently, she had been a professor at the OLLI Institute (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute) at UMass Boston.
Visiting hour in St. Margaret Church of Blessed Mother Teresa Parish, 800 Columbia Rd., Dorchester, Tuesday morning, March 22, at 9:30 A.M.
Followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 A.M.
Relatives and friends invited.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Irene's memory may be made to St. Margaret Church of Blessed Mother Teresa Parish.
Interment in New Calvary Cemetery, Boston.
