Of Dorchester, passed away on November 16, 2025, after a valiant battle with cancer.
He was the devoted husband of Kathy (Lipfin) Goode and the beloved son of the late Christopher A. and Mary L. (Davis) Goode.
Jimmy was a loving brother to Teresa Goode and her husband George Oommen of Kingston, Mary Beth Kennedy and her husband Lee of Duxbury, Christopher E. Goode and his wife Erica of Hingham, Nancy Talalas and her husband John of Guilford, CT, and the late John E. Goode of Canton, and the late Susan Albrecht and her late husband John of Dorchester.
Sister-in-law of Anne Goode of Canton.
He was also a cherished uncle to many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.
Born in Dorchester, Jimmy was the second youngest of seven children, all of whom attended St. William’s Grammar School. He later graduated from Copley Square High School, where he first met Kathy and took her to the prom—an evening that marked the beginning of a lifelong love and partnership.
Jimmy was a lifelong and proud resident of Savin Hill, where he was surrounded by a large group of devoted friends. He enjoyed nothing more than walking with Kathy and Clyde, their beloved West Highland Terrier, down to Savin Hill Park or out to Castle Island. He also loved golfing with his friends, whether in the Savin Hill Golf Tournament or on trips to Myrtle Beach.
For many years, Jimmy worked as a pressman at the Boston Globe, where he was part of a lively and close-knit group of friends and fellow “Globies.” He was the favorite uncle of his extended family of nieces, nephews, and their children, who adored his warmth and humor. Jimmy carried his mother’s kindness and his father’s sense of humor, and throughout his life he was beloved for his generosity, ready laugh, and unwavering loyalty.
With his quiet example, Jimmy taught his family and friends how to live a caring and generous life, and at the end, how to face hardship with immense dignity and courage.
Family and friends will honor and remember Jimmy’s life by gathering for a Funeral Mass in St. Margaret Church of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, 800 Columbia Rd. Dorchester, on Saturday morning, November 29, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. At Jimmy’s request, a Celebration of Life for his family and friends will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jimmy’s memory may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at www.danafarber.jimmyfund.org or to the Animal Rescue League of Boston at www.arlboston.org.
