James W. Horne

Mr. James W. Horne, of Quincy, formerly of Dorchester, died Sunday, March 6, 2022 in Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston after a four month battle with cancer. He was 55.

Jim was born on November 10, 1966 in Dorchester a son of William J. and Ann M. (Swan) Horne. Raised in the Savin Hill neighborhood he was a graduate of Christopher Columbus High School.

Jimmy worked at E.F Smith and Son Restaurant Equipment / Avenue Auction Sales in Quincy for over 37 years. He loved his work and was considered as family by the company.

Jim loved to go fishing and spend time with his family, friends and dogs.

He leaves his sons, Joseph Hawker of West Palm Beach, Florida and William Horne II of Quincy; his step-son, Christian Blunt of Bridgewater and his daughter, Winter; his parents, William J. (Rt. Lt. BFD) and Ann M. (Swan) Horne of Quincy; his sister, Donna M. Downing of Medford; his niece, Nicole Downing; longtime friend Rosie Hawker of Haines City, Florida; also survived by aunts, uncles and cousins.

Family and friends will honor and remember Jim's life by gathering for a visiting hour in the Murphy Funeral Home, 1020 Dorchester Ave., DORCHESTER, on Friday, March 11th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. before leaving in procession to St. Margaret Church of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, 800 Colombia Road where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
