Jimmy passed away peacefully on March 5, 2024 in the loving presence of his family.
Jimmy Grew up in Savin Hill, Dorchester, and later moved with his family to Hingham. Jimmy graduated from Hingham High School. After high school he worked as a union floor layer. Later he worked as a manager for the MBTA Ride. He was well respected and adored by his colleagues.
Jim faced his disability with strength and courage. Jimmy was a blessing to his family and friends. He never complained and lived his life to the fullest.
Jimmy is survived by his loving mother Arlene (Murphy) Costello and the late Jim Costello of Hingham.
Jimmy is also survived by his sister Kris Costello and her wife Deb Malcolm of Seattle, Washington, his sister Susan Costello of Quincy, and his sister Patricia Cotter and her husband Donny Cotter of Foxboro.
He is also the cherished uncle of Catherine and Ryan Cotter.
Jimmy’s heart belonged to Savin Hill and all his wonderful friends. He will be dearly missed.
Family and friends will honor and remember Jimmy’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the Murphy Funeral Home, 1020 Dorchester Ave., DORCHESTER, on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Margaret Church of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, 800 Columbia Road, Dorchester, on Thursday morning, March 14th, at 10:00 A.M.
Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jimmy’s memory may be made to the Spinal Cord Society, 19051 Country Highway, Fergus Falls, MN, 56537-7609, or at www.scsus.org.
