John J. Gould

Of Dorchester, John J. Gould died on July 22, 2026, at the age of 97 years.

Beloved husband of the late Eleanore T. (MacMillan) Gould.

Loving father of John J. Gould of Quincy, James A. Gould and his wife Francesca Tuffy of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Maryellen Gould of Dorchester, William F. and his wife Roberta Gould of Hyde Park, Jeanmarie Gould of Dorchester, and Paul and his wife Katie Gould of Quincy.

Son of the late John J. and Della (Hegarty) Gould.

Brother of the late Charles Gould and Harold “Buzzy” Gould.

Cherished “Papa” and “Grandpa” of James A. Gould Jr., Margaret Gould, Rosemary Gould, William Gould Jr., Ellie Brigida and her wife Bailey Katsumata-Smith, Anna-Catherine Brigida, Joseph and his wife Nina Brigida, Ned and his wife Jill Gould, Paul Gould Jr, Patrick and his wife Molly Gould, Daniel and his wife Sarah Gould.

Great-grandfather of Xander, Zoe, Liam, and Nellie.

Family and friends will honor and remember John’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the Murphy Funeral Home, 1020 Dorchester Ave., DORCHESTER, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Margaret Church of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish on Thursday morning, July 30, 2026, at 11:00 A.M.

Burial with military honors will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.

John was a proud veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. Proud former member of the Castle Island Association and Ancient Order of Hibernians.

He was a retired electrical engineer for N.E. Telephone Company and Bell Atlantic for 37 years.

His favorite pastime was a good card game with family and of course a few scratch tickets or keno which he was lucky with.
