John "Jack" Francis Breen

Of Quincy and Dorchester, Jack passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 1, 2026, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Beloved husband of Margaret M. “Peggi” (Walsh) Breen for 48 years.

Loving father of Matthew E. and his wife Caitlyn Breen of Plymouth, Kristin E. and her husband James Campbell, Q.F.D., of Quincy, and John J. and his wife Keryn Breen of Abington.

Devoted “Papa” of Molly, Madison, Aiden, and Meredith.

Son of the late John J. Breen and Jane L. (Goff) Breen.

Brother of Jane L. Breen of Quincy.

Family and friends will honor and remember Jack’s life by gathering for a visiting hour in St. Ann Church, 243 Neponset Ave., Dorchester, on Friday morning, September 11, 2026, at 10:00 A.M. Followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. Inurnment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.

Jack attended St. William’s Grammar School and was a former drum major for St. William’s Band. He was a proud graduate of Boston Latin School, Class of 1972. He was a retired employee of Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare for over 20 years. Jack especially enjoyed photography, was a longtime member of the South Shore Camera Club, and loved walks around Castle Island.

Jack (Papa) cherished all the time he spent with his grandchildren and enjoyed game and movie night with his wife and sister. He enjoyed road trips to Rockport and the Cape and you never knew when he and Peggi might be knocking on your door in the spur of the moment. Jack was an avid Celtics and Cowboys fan and enjoyed sharing stories about the old days at the Garden.

Jack participated in a research study for Alzheimer’s Disease at Beth Israel Hospital over the past year. For that reason, his family would like donations in his memory, in lieu of flowers, to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at Alzheimer's Association .
