PETERSON, John "Jack". Of Dorchester, died June 14, 2018 of ocular melanoma at the age of 64 years.
John, known to some as Jack, loved animals, early music, history, visiting art museums, and doing the New York Times crossword. He was a devout Catholic and proud Luddite, who managed to avoid acquiring a computer, email account or cell phone in his lifetime.
John leaves behind two sisters, Beth Peterson of Cave Junction, Oregon, and Chris Nissenbaum of Monson, MA, as well as Elaine Heffernan of South Boston, Paul Heffernan and Stephen Sweigart of Dorchester, and Rosemary Heffernan and Mark Fellowes of Cambridge.
John will also be missed by clients and friends, both two legged and four legged, made through his housecleaning and pet sitting business.
Family and friends will honor and remember Jack's life by gathering for a Funeral Mass in St. Cecilia Church, 18 Belvidere Street, Boston, on Friday, June 22 at 10 A.M. Followed by a reception in the St Cecilia lower parish hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's memory may be made to Community Servings at https://www.servings.org/donate/.
