John P. Walsh

February 29, 1940 — July 6, 2021

WALSH, John P. In North Attleboro, and a lifelong resident of Dorchester, died July 6, 2021.

Beloved son of the late Bartley and Mary (Carty) Walsh.

Loving brother of Mary E. Dolan of Dedham and the late Bartley Walsh.

Devoted uncle of Brenda and her husband Steven Long of North Attleboro.

Great-uncle of Maura Claire Long.

John is also survived by many cousins and dear friends.

Family and friends will honor and remember John's life by gathering for visiting hours in the Murphy Funeral Home, 1020 Dorchester Ave., DORCHESTER, on Monday from 5-8 P.M.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Margaret Church of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish on Tuesday morning, July 13th at 10 A.M.

Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery, Roslindale.

John was a retired employee of Sears & Roebuck Company for over 45 years.

He was an active member of the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization, and highly recognized for his dedicated support of many social justice issues, working closely with the Democratic Party and numerous unions. He was also a strong supporter of the Irish Cultural Center. He always looked out for the underdog and underprivileged.

In lieu of flowers, in John's loving spirit and in his memory, take someone out for a ride and a cup of coffee.
