WESTFIELD, Joseph Charles “Joe” “Westy”.

Of Hanson, formerly of Dorchester, passed away suddenly on Friday October 17, 2025.

Devoted husband of 49 years to Margaret “Peggy” O’Connell Westfield.

Caring father of the late Matthew Westfield, Timothy Westfield and his wife Mary Feeley of Milton, Christopher Westfield of Pembroke, Katherine Westfield of San Francisco, and Daniel Westfield of Chicago.

Adoring Grampy to Louisa and Eliza Westfield of Milton.

Beloved son of the late Francis and Magdalene (Sidlauskas) Westfield.

Loving brother of the late Florence Haydon and her late husband Ron of Wayland, NY, Francis and his late wife Emily of Naples, FL formerly of Canton, Madeline and her husband Drake Dierkhising of Sonoma, CA, the late John Westfield and his wife Robin of Topsfield, Charles of Little Falls, NY, Mary and her late husband Dan Sulls of Naples FL.

He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Joe was born on February 21, 1951, at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Dorchester. A graduate of St. Williams Grammar School, Boston College High School, and Boston University, Joe worked in business and database software before discovering his passion as a teacher. He taught at various schools before spending the last 30+ years of his teaching career at Plymouth South High School as a math, electronics, and computer science teacher.

To say Joe had a zest for life wouldn’t do it justice. He was a true family man and loved spending his time with his wife and kids. They will always remember him as the dad who created memories of ice fishing, slip’n’slides, sledding off the roof, along with requiring some physical labor in his established “Joe’s Labor Camp”.

He was an avid fisherman, and was always waiting for the next Savin Hill Invitation Tournament with his lifelong friends. Every community he was a part of he became a member of the family. Always ready for a slide show with a glass of whiskey, he loved to meet and chat with everyone from everywhere.
