Linda A. (Pokornicki) McLain

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Linda A. McLain, 78, of Dorchester, MA, on Monday, June 29, 2026. Linda passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous, hard-fought battle with cancer for many years.

Born in Boston, she was the cherished daughter of the late Anna (Chrusch) Pokornicki and the late Bronislaw Pokornicki. Linda grew up as a social butterfly with a vibrant spirit. She graduated from South Boston High School and went on to build a fulfilling career in the GMF department at the South Station Branch of the United States Post Office, where she impacted countless lives with her dedication and kindness. She loved to be around her friends and co-workers with lots of dancing and sociables.

Above all else, Linda was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She was the heart of our family, bringing laughs to her “OH ME OH ME OH MY” song, strength, and boundless joy to our home. Though her cancer diagnosis brought immense challenges, Linda never lost her incredible spirit, her bright smile, or her fierce determination. She faced her illness with unparalleled grace and resilience, turning her battle into a true inspiration for everyone who knew her.

Linda leaves behind to cherish her memory:

Her loving husband of 56 years, Richard McLain (“Dad”).

Her children, Carol (“Queen”), Dianna (“Little Chick”) and Richard, Jr.(“Sonny Son Son”).

Her baby brother Stephen Pokornicki, her late brothers, Stanley Pokornicki, Joseph Pokornicki, Michael Pokornicki, John Pokornicki, Edward Pokornicki and her late sisters, Catherine McLain and Maryann Rich.

Her grandchildren, Joseph, Jr., Kristen (“Baby Girl”) and Matthew.

Her great grandchildren, Jojo, Mariana and Idalia. Her grandpets Princess,Cuddles, Fat Cat, and Buddy Girl.

Many extended family and friends.

Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the compassionate doctors, nurses, and staff at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Dana Farber and Good Shepherd Hospice for the exceptional care they provided Linda throughout her journey, especially her social worker, Sarah and her nurse, Josh.
