LoPICCOLO, Louisa Esther (DiCenzo). Age 91 years, a longtime Dorchester resident, peacefully entered into eternal rest in her home surrounded by loved ones on January 2, 2018.

She is survived by her five daughters; Elaine M. Greenstein and her late husband John of Brockton, Rosemarie L. Owens and her husband Joseph of Plymouth, JoAnne A. Rose and her husband Richard of Dorchester, Francine LoPiccolo and her husband Jack of Dorchester, and Lisa M. Mooney of Plainville.

She also leaves 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, and many siblings.

Her parents, Esterina and Attilio DiCenzo traveled from Rome, Italy, to the United States in 1923 settling in McKee's Rock, Pennsylvania. Louis was born on October 8, 1926. At the age of 12, they moved to the North End of Boston. In 1943 she married Frank LoPiccolo and eventually became a single parent raising her five daughters.

In her early years, she held several jobs as a cashier and then as a Nursing Assistant at St. Margaret Hospital's Maternity ward in Dorchester before going back to school and retraining herself for clerical and computer work. She went to work for the Bank of Boston, retiring in 1988.

Louisa enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing Bingo, crocheting, and sitting on her front porch making friends with all who walked by. She was affectionately known as "Nana" by many on Crescent Avenue.

Family and friends will honor and remember Louisa's life by gathering for a visiting hour in St. Margaret Church of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, 800 Columbia Rd., Dorchester, on Saturday morning, January 27th, at 9 A.M. Followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 A.M. A private burial will take place in St. Michael Cemetery, Roslindale. In lieu of flowers, donations in Louisa's memory may be made to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Suite b-102, Danvers, MA 01923. For guestbook, please visit www.jmurphyfh.com.
