Mahendra was born on August 12, 1953 in Supedi, India to Mohanlal Arjan Patel and Jadavben Mohanlal Patel. He moved to Kenya when he was young. He graduated from Cardiff Medical School in Wales and completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Coney Island Hospital in New York. He was a practicing Internal Medicine Physician for over 40 years and helped many people in various of stages of life. Mahendra and Neena were married on August 22, 1981. They were married for 43 years and were wonderful partners to one another.
Mahendra’s joy for the last four years was being “Dadu” to his granddaughters Salem and Raya. Mahendra and Neena spent significant time in Boston, Massachusetts where precious moments were spent with his children and granddaughters. From boat trips in the Boston Harbor, to walks around the neighborhood, and ice cream dates with Salem and Raya, the time spent will always be treasured.
Those who knew Mahendra will always remember him for his love of travel, golf, cricket, the weather, Tampa Bay sports teams, reading, and arriving on time (or incredibly early) to any engagement.
While we are all mourning the loss of an incredible man, we are happy knowing he passed away in the presence of his entire family, with full knowledge of how much he was loved not only by his family, but by numerous people all over the world.
