Weymouth

Margaret "Molly" (Owens) Lehane

Of North Weymouth, passed away on July 13, 2023, after her second courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 81 years.

She was born on August 13, 1941, to Patrick and Mollie (Dowd) Owens and grew up in Brookline.  She graduated from Brookline High School in 1960 and then moved to Dorchester where she started her family.  She moved to North Weymouth in 1973 where she lived until her passing.  Molly worked in the restaurant and catering business for most of her adult life, including many years at the Owl Club at Harvard University.  She was a spitfire and shot straight from the hip.  She always had a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eyes.  She championed the underdog, the poor, and the left out and tried her best to help those less fortunate.

Molly is survived by her son Gerald and his wife Jeanne of Canton, son Brian and his wife Allison of Newbury, grandchildren Sean, Olivia, Grace, and Owen Lehane, and Shay Perry.  She is also survived by her brother Joseph Owens of Oceanside, CA.  She was predeceased by her son Mark and daughter Michelle, whom she loved dearly.  Molly also had many great friends that she enjoyed spending time with on a regular basis.

Family and friends will honor and remember Margaret’s life by gathering for a Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, 72 Washington Street, Weymouth Landing, on Wednesday morning, August 2, 2023, at 10:30 A.M.  Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Molly’s name may be made to Susan Cibulsky’s 2023 Pan-Mass Challenge ride, which directly benefits the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where Molly received excellent care.  Please visit https://profile.pmc.org/SC0249 to make a donation online.
