Of Dorchester, native of Coolbock, Riverstown, Co. Sligo, Ireland died at home with family by her side on Monday, January 29, 2024. She was 84.
Margaret, affectionately known as 'Mary', was born August 30th, 1939 the eldest of eight children of the late John and Maggie (Jinks) McCarrick. Raised and educated in Ireland, Mary embarked on her journey from Ireland to Boston by boat in 1955. She married Co. Galway native Martin 'Matty' Walsh on Jan 25, 1966 in Blessed Sacrament Church in Riverstown, Co. Sligo, Ireland. She was a devoted resident of Dorchester for the remainder of her life with her family.
Mary’s heart was forever connected to Ireland through the melodies of Irish music, a cherished soundtrack to her life. Her greatest joy was family–weekends and holidays were not mere occasions, but time to celebrate with them. Her home on Roseclair Street echoed with laughter, as her infectious humor, kindness, and quick wit left a mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Beloved wife of the late Martin “Matty” Walsh.
Loving mother of Margaret M. 'Peggy' and her husband Christopher Carroll, Barbara A. Walsh, and Kathleen T. Walsh, all of Dorchester, and the late Una Connolly.
Mother-in-law of Michael Connolly of West Roxbury.
Devoted Nana of Kristina and her husband Tyler McGeehan, Kathleen Carroll and her husband Bryce Willey, Ciara Carroll, and Erin Connolly.
Sister of Benny McCarrick, Bridie Fallon, Rosie and her husband Richard Hunter, Patrick and his wife Mary McCarrick, and the late John McCarrick, Jimmy McCarrick, and Kathleen Horkan. She is also survived by many beloved sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
