It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Maria B. DePina also known as Maria Tchubinha, Iaia (yaya) & mamai, a beloved matriarch, who departed this life surrounded by love.
Maria was the devoted wife of the late Manuel Tavares DePina, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, family, and faith.
She was predeceased by her brother, Jose Baptista Lomba of Dorchester.
She leaves behind her cherished children: Ana Amelia Monteiro and her husband John of New Bedford; John B. DePina and his wife Maria Antonia of Randolph and Alfredo B. DePina and his wife Maria H. also of Randolph.
Maria was a proud aunt to a host of nieces and nephews and loving grandmother to six grandchildren and a doting great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren. Her legacy of kindness, strength, and deep devotion to her family will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Maria Tchubinha, as she was lovingly known to many, was a business oriented woman with a knowledge of many trades and a passion for teaching. She was also an active member in church from her youth in the Cape Verde Islands to her elder years here in the States.
She was an active participant in many activities such as theater, choir, and catechism. She was a woman who followed God, led life with passion, kindness and love.
Family and friends will honor and remember Maria's life by gathering for visiting hours in the Murphy Funeral Home, 1020 Dorchester Ave., DORCHESTER, on Monday, May 12, 2025, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Mark's Church, 1725 Dorchester Avenue, on Tuesday morning, May 13th, at 9:30 A.M.
Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
