HOLMES, Mary M. In Dorchester, December 10th. Beloved daughter of the late Edmund W. and Margaret M. (Begley) Holmes.

Mary worked for 25 years as a Medical Social Worker at the former Boston City Hospital in several services, including Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, and Pediatrics. Upon her retirement from BCH, Mary worked as a Medical Social Worker at the Brigham & Women's Hospital and Quincy Medical Center. Throughout her illustrious career, Mary assisted thousands of patients and their families with expertise, kindness, and compassion. Mary's friends will dearly miss her laugh and that Irish twinkle in her eye. For many years, Mary raised and showed Norwegian Elk Hounds. Many of her dogs reached championship status. Mary was a lifelong parishioner of her beloved St. Gregory Parish. She was also a lifetime member of the National Association of Social Workers and the Norwegian Elk Hound Association. Mary was an alumna of Emmanuel College and the Simmons School of Social Work.
Visiting hours in the Murphy Funeral Home, 1020 Dorchester Ave., DORCHESTER, Thursday morning, December 18, at 9 A.M. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Gregory Church at 11 A.M.

Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
