Mary Ann Sweda

Of Dorchester, died peacefully at the age of 80 years after a brief illness on July 17, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Beloved daughter of the late Edward L. and Lucy C. (Daniszewska) Sweda.

Loving sister of Catherine J. Sweda and Edward L. Sweda Jr., both of Dorchester, and the late Robert J. Sweda.

Mary Ann, who is survived by many loving cousins, was also Robert’s Godmother.

Family and friends will honor and remember Mary Ann’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the Murphy Funeral Home, 1020 Dorchester Ave., Dorchester, on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Margaret Church of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, on Wednesday morning, July 29, 2026, at 10:00 A.M.

Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Roslindale.

Mary Ann was a life-long resident of Dorchester and a proud graduate of Monsignor Ryan Memorial High School, Class of 1964. She also graduated from Hickox Secretarial School. Mary Ann worked for thirty years at Stone & Webster Engineering Co. as a proofreader, receptionist, and clerk.

Mary Ann loved reading and closely following Boston’s sports teams.
