Of Boston, passed away on October 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a battle with cancer.
Matt was the son of the late John and Elizabeth Westover. He leaves his loving wife, Mary Murphy Westover, and his five devoted daughters: Maeve, Madeline, Kathleen, Keara, and Mairead. In addition, he leaves his siblings Karen Chapman, Mark Westover (Cheryl), Tess Neggerman (Jack), Greti Dorr, and Marty Mayer (Bob), and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, in-laws, and friends. Matt was predeceased by his parents, his parents-in-law, Eleanor and Bartholomew Murphy, and his brother-in-law, Richard Dorr.
Matt was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 13, 1961. He was the youngest of six children. Matt attended La Salle High School and the University of Notre Dame, where he was a walk-on to the football team. Following graduation from Notre Dame, Matt began a successful career in the technology industry.
Throughout his life, Matt brought the same team-oriented mindset that defined his days on the Notre Dame football field to the way he supported his family, built relationships, and pursued his career. He valued collaboration, loyalty, and perseverance. Matt’s Roman Catholic faith was an unwavering foundation in his life - a source of strength, guidance, and comfort. His approach was steady and consistent: lead when needed, support always, and never lose sight of the bigger picture.
Family and friends will honor and remember Matt’s life by gathering for visiting hours in St. Cecilia Church, 18 Belvidere Street, Boston, on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
