HYNES, Michael S. Of Scituate, formerly of Dorchester and Co. Galway, Ireland, died April 23, 2022.
Michael was born in Sconce, Lettermore, Co. Galway, Ireland on December 24, 1939 to the late John and Margaret (Reaney) Hynes. He emigrated to Boston as a young man. He worked as an Administrator in the Radiology Department at Massachusetts General Hospital for 34 years. He was very proud of his many years at MGH and made some lasting friendships, which also enabled him to link so many family members and friends with a medical connection, when needed.
Michael loved his family and was very close to his many siblings. He was a proud father and grandfather. He enjoyed books, travel, writing letters, and appreciated music of all types. His interests included aviation, history, gardening, animals, and politics, never shying away from a spirited debate. He was a great cook who loved to entertain and was always up for company.
He made friends easily, loved to have a good time, and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
Michael was the former husband of Margaret E. (Brady) Hynes of Dorchester.
Loving and devoted father of Sean M. Hynes and his late wife Patricia M. "Tricia" (Finnigan) Hynes of Scituate, Lisa M. Hynes and her partner Thomas Hoadley of Scituate, Stephanie M. and her husband Patrick Drummond of Dorchester, and Laurie S. and her husband James Muldowney of Cohasset.
Cherished "Grandpa" and "Umpa" to Sean Brady Hynes, Lily E. Hoadley, James M., Riley G., and Braeden P. Muldowney.
Loyal brother of Maire and her husband Michael Walsh, Thomas and his wife Beryl Hynes, Jude and her husband Colm Beatty, Andy and his wife Bridget Hynes, Ellen and her husband Patrick Mannion, Martin and his wife Pauline Hynes, all of Ireland, Stephen and his wife Ann Hynes of Weymouth, Bartley and wife Maura Hynes, and Coleman Hynes, all of Ireland, and the late John Hynes and Padraig Hynes.
Michael is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and Godchildren.
Family and friends will honor and remember Michael's life by gathering for a Funeral Mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 2 Summer Street, Cohasset, on Friday morning, May 13, 2022 at 11:00 A.M.
