Patrick J. Naughton

Patrick J. Naughton, of Dorchester, native of Béal a' Daingin, Co. Galway, Ireland, died at home with family by his side on Saturday, June 22, 2019. He was 69.
Born on March 18, 1950 a son of the late Patrick and Maggie (McDonagh) he immigrated to the United States in 1970 settling in Dorchester. He would proudly boast that he was a gravedigger and loved his work at New Calvary Cemetery in Roslindale/Mattapan for over 15 years. He then worked with Local 223 Construction Workers Union and again would tell family, friends or stranger that he was a part of Boston's Big Dig project.
A lover of all things Irish he listened regularly to the Irish hour on Saturday afternoons and would take in the live music, good craic, a pint and the camaraderie of all gathered at any of the pubs in Dorchester and Boston. A familiar face in his much loved Savin Hill neighborhood he could be seen regularly walking Dorchester Avenue.
In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his three children, Maureen Margaret Naughton, Michael Patrick Naughton and baby Naughton; siblings, Josie Naughton, Billy Naughton and Mary Ruddy.
He leaves his wife Bridget A. (Mulkerrin) Naughton; his children, Patricia A. Naughton (Antonio Bruno) of Weymouth, Joseph P. Naughton of Dorchester, Sheila A. Naughton (Joseph Duffy) of Rockland; grandchildren Makayla Burke, Kaitlyn Lenane, Avah and Connor Duffy; siblings Martin, Thomas and Cholm Naughton, all of Connemara, Michael Naughton of Dublin, Brid Reaney of Mayo, Mairead Curran of Meath also survived by many nieces & nephews including Ciaron Naughton of Cape Cod and Eoughan Naughton of Galway.
Family and friends will honor and remember Patrick's life by gathering for calling hours in Murphy Funeral Home, 1020 Dorchester Ave., DORCHESTER, on Wednesday, June 26th from 4-8 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Margaret Church of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish on Thursday morning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery, Boston.
Memorials in his name may be made to American Red Cross, 274 Tremont St, Boston, MA 02116.
