Peter J. Whitaker

Of Quincy, formerly of Dorchester, Peter died May 12, 2026.

Beloved son of the late Charles W. Whitaker and Mary “Alice” (Doherty) McCarthy.

Loving brother of Ann E. and her husband Jack Doyle of South Boston, John E. McCarthy Jr. of East Boston, Catherine M. Casey and her late husband Daniel Casey of California, Kelly P. McCarthy of Braintree, and the late Charles E. Whitaker and James M. McCarthy.

Peter is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Peter was a proud veteran, serving in the Vietnam War in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired longtime employee of the Commonwealth of Mass. Metropolitan District Commission (MDC), which later became the DCR. He was a lifelong Dorchester resident and enjoyed his many visits to Castle Island in South Boston. He will be lovingly remembered for his kindness and his love of animals.

Funeral services will be private.
