Philip A. Slotnick

Philip A. Slotnick of Medfield and Ogunquit, ME, formerly of West Roxbury and Waltham, died peacefully in his home on February 14, 2026 surrounded by those who loved him. Philip lived a full and fun life together with his loving family. He enjoyed each day and was always happiest when his home was filled with laughter and hugs from family and friends.

Philip was the son of the late Janice and Rubin Slotnick and brother to Stanley Slotnick. He was born in Brookline and lived his early life in Dorchester before his family moved to Waltham. He graduated from Waltham High School in 1966, Brandeis University in 1970, and traveled to California to attend Hastings School of Law, graduating in 1973. Philip enjoyed being an attorney and successfully practiced for over 45 years in the Boston area. Philip was a lover of history (particularly Iron Age II), literature, music, and vacationing in Ogunquit. He was a great cook and a student of Judaic spirituality.

As a partner with Priscilla for 48 years in an interfaith marriage there were always lively religious conversations and shared Jewish and Christian celebrations. Philip’s greatest joy was his family, and together Philip and Priscilla created a home filled with love. His sons James and Andrew were gifts in his life and he was delighted to have Julie and Cassandra as his wonderful daughters in law. Philip, also known as Ba, adored his grandchildren Hannah, Henry, Beatrice, and Samuel, as well as his loving nieces, nephew, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Spending time together and watching them grow brightened his day.

Although Alzheimer’s presented many challenges for Philip he continued to appreciate and live each day fully. His family is thankful for the support he received at Julia Ruth House and from the dedicated caretakers who enabled him to enjoy his time at home with Priscilla. Philip loved his family and friends, and he will be remembered as a thoughtful, kind, and generous man.

May his memory be a blessing.

A celebration of Philip’s life will be held at Saint Cecilia Church at 18 Belvidere Street, Boston, on Wednesday, February 18th, at 12:00 noon. A reception will immediately follow in the lower church. Parking is available at The Hynes Auditorium Garage located at 50 Dalton Street.

Burial will be private.
