Roger Regis Dumont

June 13, 1956 — June 21, 2023

Quincy, MA

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roger Regis Dumont, 67, of Quincy MA. Roger died on June 21, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Roger was born on June 13, 1956 to Roland and Florine (Bertrand) Dumont in Berlin NH. Spunky and remarkably intelligent, Roger graduated from Berlin High School in 1973. He later moved to southern NH where he lived for many years, completing a degree in Business from New Hampshire College in Manchester NH.

Roger later settled in Quincy MA, in close proximity to his beloved Boston. He held a variety of sales roles in his career, eventually landing his dream job as a concierge at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel, a role he held for many years. He loved his work there, being part of the vibrant concierge community, and especially sharing his encyclopedic knowledge of Boston with hotel guests and anyone willing to listen.

Roger was incredibly devoted to his family and friends, and he touched so many people with his kindness and generosity. He always remembered birthdays and special occasions, and sent greeting cards faithfully. He was so proud of his nieces and nephews, and was a very strong presence in their lives, going far out of his way to be there for important occasions. Roger was also a person of great faith, who cherished the community he found at St. Cecilia Parish in Boston and was eager to share that experience with others.

Roger was a life-long and enthusiastic fan of travel, theater, and music. His memory for details in all of these areas was extraordinary, able to recall everything from landmarks to lyrics with ease. Even in the final months of his life, Roger got so much pleasure from music and theater, marshaling his strength to attend several shows with friends and family. He was also a devoted Boston sports fan, following the teams closely, and steadfast in his distaste for Boston’s rivals.

Roger is survived by his sister Simone Routhier of Pelham NH, his sister and brother-in-law Louise and Hank Deshaies of Hooksett NH, nephew Mark Routhier, nieces Kristen Deshaies (godchild), Lori Routhier, Amy Browning, Gayle Pacifici, and by grand nephew Trey and grand nieces Kira, Sierra, Paisley, Nora, Alba-Lis, Vera-Lyn, and Lacey (godchild), all of whom love him dearly. He was predeceased by his sister Lucille Andrews of Gainesville FL and his brother-in-law Leo Routhier.

An hour-long wake will be held at St. Cecilia Parish, 18 Belvidere Street, in Boston at 10:30 AM with a Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM on Friday June 30th. Interment will be in Berlin, NH at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Roger’s memory to St. Cecilia Parish (18 Belvidere St., Boston, MA 02115) or a charity of your choice. And please enjoy a live theater, music, or sporting event with Roger in your heart. He’d love that.
