Rosa Kim Trang Nguyen, an entrepreneurial business owner and leader within her church community, died of lung cancer Saturday, October 25 at Brigham and Women's Hospital. She was 65.
Kim Trang was born in the town of Ang Ngoai, Vietnam on April 10, 1949. After coming to the States in 1990, Kim established herself as one of the first Vietnamese-American business owners in Dorchester, owning St. Peter's Market for 7 years and Kim Market for 8 years. Active within her church community at St. Ambrose, Kim became one of the key leaders on the volunteering committee, organizing fundraising events and Learning and Growth Through Prayer groups.
She is survived by her husband, John Hien Vo, her seven children – Kim Nga Vo, Thuy Trang Vo, Mike Minh Vo, Theresa Hanh Vo, Michael Vuong Vo, Kim Ngan Vo, and Kimberly 'Kimmi' Vo, and her six grandchildren – William Hatch, Linh Hatch, Kiana Nguyen, David Nguyen, Chloe Vo, and Rebecca Lai.
Visiting hours in the Murphy Funeral Home, 1020 Dorchester Ave., DORCHESTER, Thursday, October 30, and Friday, October 31, from 5:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M.
Funeral Mass in St. Ambrose Church, 240 Adams Street, Dorchester, Saturday morning, November 1, at 10 A.M.
Relatives and friends invited.
Interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
