FENNELLY, Sheila M. Of Hyannis, formerly of Dorchester and Quincy, died peacefully on January 11, 2022.
She graduated from Jeremiah E. Burke H.S. in 1968 and worked for over thirty years at Blue Cross & Blue Shield. In retirement, she worked as a certified home healthcare aid for the elderly and was a eucharistic minister at St. John the Baptist Church in Quincy. Most recently, she was an ambassador At Brookdale Assisted Living in Hyannis. Special thanks to the staff at Brookdale who cared for Sheila for these past four years.
Sheila was fiercely proud of her Irish heritage and visited relatives there on numerous occasions. She reveled in family gatherings and loved to dance at the Irish Village.
Devoted daughter of the late Bridget Agnes Bowes and Lawrence J. Fennelly and sister to the late Christine Bowes-Wasilewski, she is survived by brothers Lawrence J. Fennelly and his wife Annmarie of South Yarmouth, Michael H. Fennelly and his wife Helen of Quincy, and Kevin. P. Fennelly and his wife Dale of Maywood, NJ. Also survived by 11 nieces and nephews and 19 grand nieces and nephews. She had cousins and friends too numerous to count. Sheila was also a devoted dog mom to Lacey.
Family and friends will honor and remember Sheila' life by gathering for a visiting hour in St. Margaret Church of St. Theresa of Calcutta Parish, 800 Columbia Rd., Dorchester, on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 9:30 A.M. Followed by Mass at 11:00 A.M.
Sheila will then be laid to rest at New Calvary Cemetery in Roslindale.
