Theresa F. "Terry" (Norton) Downie

Of Dorchester, Terry died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 5, 2026.

Beloved wife of the late Roderick W. Downie.

Loving mother of Paul “Boomer” Flaherty and his wife Aggie Flaherty of Dorchester, Mark Flaherty and his wife Alanna Sheils of Weymouth, and Dianne Downie Watson and her companion Jimmy Hudson of Milton.

Former mother-in-law of Danny Watson of Dorchester.

Sister of the late Lauretta and her husband William Proctor, and the late Agnes “Adjie” Hurley.

Devoted “Nana” of Ryann, Ali, and Andrew, and great-grandmother of Sophia.

Terry is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Terry’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the Murphy Funeral Home, 1020 Dorchester Ave., Dorchester, on Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Ann Church, 243 Neponset Avenue, Dorchester, on Friday morning, October 9, 2026, at 10:30 A.M.

Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.

Terry was a retired crossing guard for the City of Boston at St. William School and St. Mark School in Dorchester for over 30 years. She loved playing Bingo, celebrating Dorchester Day, and her summers on the Cape with her beloved family.
