Vincent C. Flaherty

d. September 16, 2018

FLAHERTY, Vincent C. Of Pembroke, formerly of South Boston, suddenly, but peacefully after gardening at home with his wife, died September 16, 2018.

To Vin, nature and the outdoors were where he felt most alive and most at peace. Deep in the woods of his own backyard or at his lodge in Sebois, Maine, he enjoyed boating, flying, hunting, fishing, and tending to his chickens and bees. He cared about the natural world with an intensity that he passed on to his children and grandchildren.

He was also politically active, and his children delighted in watching their father participate in televised Town Hall Meetings. He was consistently there in the front row—fast asleep.

Raw, unconventional, and tender, Vin was a true treasure and adored by all that knew him. He will be sorely missed, and most assuredly, not forgotten.
He retired from the New England Telephone Company after 35 years, and was a former health agent for the town of Hanson for 18 years.

Vin served in the U.S. Army as a Paratrooper.

He was the beloved husband of Angela T. (Barbuto) Flaherty.
Son of the late Julia (Pistorino) O'Hare.
Loving father of Jill and her husband John Dunbar of Weymouth, Sheilagh and her husband George Eraklis of Marshfield, Vincent Flaherty of Oregon, Jamie Hogan of Braintree, Allison and her husband Chris Candura of Hanover, Ryan and his wife Janette Flaherty of Virginia, and Kiley and her husband Nick Rizzo of Munich, Germany.

Devoted grandpa of Jack, Molly, Emma, Noe, Quinn, Ryan, Bella, Lucy, Dorothy, Isla, and Everly.

Brother of Theresa Anderson of Weymouth, and the late Sheila, Richard, and Kenneth.

Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington Street (Rt 53), HANOVER, on Saturday morning, September 22nd, from 10:30-12:30 P.M.

Followed by a celebration of his life at his favorite place to grab a beer, the Weymouth Elks Lodge, 1197 Washington St., Weymouth, MA 02189.
