Virginia A. (Hutchinson) McCann

Of Duxbury, MA, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, at the age of 78. She was born on October 12, 1947, to the late John J. and Virginia M. (Flaherty) Hutchinson in Dorchester, Massachusetts.

After graduating from Monsignor Ryan Memorial High School, class of 1965, where she made lifelong friends, she worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield. There she met her husband, the late William K. McCann. They married in 1968 and shared 43 wonderful years before he passed away in 2011. Ginny enjoyed her career as an assistant preschool teacher as well as a waitress at Haddad’s Ocean Cafe for 41 years. She was known for her loving nature with children and quick wit with regular restaurant customers.

She is survived by her children Jennifer McCann of Marshfield, Karen DeAngelis of Norwood, and grandchildren Olivia DeAngelis of Norwood and Christopher DeAngelis of St. Petersburg, Fla, Danielle Belmont; her husband Robert, and grandchildren Leila, Hadley, and William of Norwood; Sheilagh McCann of Duxbury and Colin McCann and his wife Siobhan and grandchildren Aine Palumbo, Ronan, Seamus, and Teaghan McCann of Kingston. Also, by her sister Marie Clifford and late husband Mike Clifford of Hanson and brother John Hutchinson and wife Linda of Rockland as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son William K. McCann Jr. and her husband William K. McCann.

Visiting hours will be held at Sullivan Funeral Home, 2 Maquan Street (Corner of Routes 14 & 58), Hanson, on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

There will be a Funeral Mass celebrated in Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont Street, Duxbury, on Friday morning, July 10, 2026, at 10:00 A.M.

A private burial will be held in Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury.
