RANKIN, William John "Jack". Passed away peacefully at home on April 30, 2019. He was a longtime resident of Boston and Mattapoisett.

He is survived by his beloved wife, of 49 years, Carol A. (McFarlin) Rankin.

He is also survived by six nieces and nephews and thirteen grandnieces and nephews.

Jack graduated from the Loyola Prep School in Montreal. He then joined the Navy where he was the assistant to Captain of the USS Springfield, the Flagship of the 6th Fleet. He continued his education at Emerson College and Boston University Graduate School.

Jack enjoyed his career traveling worldwide with the Air Force Electronic Systems Division. He then became Northeast Regional Director of Communications at the Small Business Administration.

Jack was a longtime member of the Beverly Yacht Club in Marion where he enjoyed sailing and racing his beloved Bullseye, Carol Anne, with his wife. He was an avid sports fan and he and Carol often attended Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics games. He was also a music lover and Jack and Carol attended Boston Symphony concerts together. They also enjoyed attending Rolling Stones concerts.

He was very proud of his wife's musical talent and he never missed a concert that she played in or conducted.

We will celebrate Jack's life at a Funeral Mass in St. Cecilia Church, 18 Belvidere St., Boston, on Wednesday morning, May 8th, at 11 A.M. Please join Jack's family immediately following his Mass for a reception in the lower church hall.
